[ox] Gedanken vorab und: Wikimania Conference

Hi,
vor der Weiterleitung einige Gedanken zum aktuellen Thread mit der Abstimmung:

Zur "reinen" Abstimmung ist die Liste ja nicht soooo optimal. Es gibt
da weit elegantere Wege. Ich habe in pox auch schon angeboten ein
solches Tool zur Verfügung zu stellen.

Wenn ausser der reinen Abstimmung auch die Hintergründe und anderes an
die liste ankommen, dann ist die Liste natürlich gut dafür geeignet...
- und es ist ein spannendes Thema. imho.

Vor allem wollte ich folgendes zu bedenken geben: Eine solche
Abstimmung schafft automatisch "gewinner" und "verlierer" - und das
müsste beim gegenwärtigen Stand noch gar nicht geschehen... eventuell
auch nicht später. Ich hab ja schon mehrmals zu diesen wiki dingen
hier gemailt.
War mir wichtig obiges zu sagen, äh mailen.

An dieser Stelle noch nachträglich ein Dank an Stefan Mn. für das
"stoppen" von jörg s. aka phase4. Ich schrieb Stefan das auch gestern
per mail. hier noch mal an ca. 250 leser (m/w) in der ox-liste.

ps. die dinge mit den lizenzen sehe ich ähnlich wie holger. ich kann
das aber nicht so klar formulieren wie er.

Dear OAI and Open Access Community!
Wikimedia, the foundation supporting Wikipedia and its
sister projects, is hosting the Wikimania 2005 conference in
Frankfurt, Germany (August 5-7). Wikimania is a global
gathering of the Wikimedia community to discuss wikis,
large-scale collaboration, free content,
internationalization, bridging the global divide etc.
We would like to invite a speakers for a speech or workshop
about OAI, Open Access and collaboration. OAI is little
known in the Wikimedia community (or only known as just
another protocol) and both the Open Access movement and the
Open Content movement could benefit from getting to know
each other more deeply. As far as I remember I once heard a
rousing talk from Herbert Van de Sompel - that's what we
are looking for ;-) OAI is not just a protocol but a
philosophy of sharing and building an infrastructure of
local and independent data and service providers. So take
the chance and present your vision to around 400 attendees
form all over the world!
