VMWare ist teuer; wäre die XEN VirtualMachine eine Alternative dazu?

Offensichtlich nicht[1]:

Abgesehen davon, dass XP darin scheinbar noch gar nicht laeuft und
vermutlich erst brauchbar sein wird, wenn Windows schon zwei Versionen
weiter ist, scheint mir vor allem das Design haesslich: Xen muss
offensichtlich _gebootet_ werden und die "darin" gebooteten Systeme
muessen erst nach Xen _portiert_ werden, weil es nicht x86-kompatibel
ist. VMWare laeuft ja einfach als Applikation auf einer normalen
Windows/Linux/BSD-Installation und sieht fuer das "darin" installierte
System so aus, als waere es ein stinknormaler PC. So will man das haben,
da koennen die Xen-Leute erzaehlen was sie wollen[2].

Derzeit ist man m.E. auf VMWare angewiesen, wenn man Windows in einem
UNIX booten will. Ansonsten bleibt wohl nur rdesktop[3] oder VNC[4],
vorausgesetzt, man hat einen Windows-PC uebrig.
