[ox] more about the problem of licenses

Thank you HansGert, I have suggested the same on the lise and I said that
people who read this GFDL might be completely unaware how to transfer
licenses instead of transfering simply text. They will refrain from using
and modifying the text.

I think the main problem here is - to use one of your terms - is the
granularity of the changes that are made in a wiki. If with every minor
edit you must find out who is the original author and grant him or her
credit, "granularity" is much too fine.

On the other hand, after all discussions I would prefer not to declare
GFDL as the default Wiki-4 license but CC-BY.

CC-BY says: "For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others
the license terms of this work". Now if you change a text in a wiki or if
you copy and paste anything its a re-use. But this "anything" could be a
simple word or a group of words. So the fine-granular editing process is
increasingly accompagnied by immense license overhead.

I urge you and all of us to understand that we need to see the enormous
difference between the sourcecode of a finite programm and the chuncs of
inspiration that programmers might give to each other in between by simply
peeking at each others style.

I do not think in the latter case all this license stuff is applied. But
my experience stems from programming in HyperTalk back in 1987 , where we
used to have interpreted code packed in objects.

Still I think that writing in a wiki is related to this style of
cooperation rather than the "work" ("Werk") approach of GFDL or CC-BY. I
do not want to denounce them and the enormous benefit that the whole
community has reaped from copyleft. But we must understand that copyleft
is not the only way to go.

I still maintain Holgers and my proposal to make a general note waiving
copyright except where noted or necessary.

Franz
