Possibly slightly off-topic (and in english), but there's an
interesting article on the social/economic context of free
hardware design at http://www.opencollector.org/Whyfree/vilbrandt.html
The beginning is very slow (yet another introduction to free software
etc); for me, the interesting part is section 2.5.1 onwards which
describes a concrete design intended, among other things to minimize
requirements for manufacturing (both parts and machinery). A concrete
example of increasing use value by decreasing exchange value ;-)
